Well I think we have all heard the different types of predisposed characteristics labeled on POC. Archetypes such as the mammy, sambo, and uncle tom have plageud blacks historically in the past, but what about today? Many people may disagree and claim POC are playing the race cards, but the effects of slavery are still being felt today and many POC know this and many non blacks refuse to acknowledge this. Today the hyper masculine black man is now the standardized image of blacks today, it is the new stereotype, caused by the refusal of society to allow them their manhood by systematically oppressing them through slavery, Jim Crow, mental brainwashing, you name it folks. Now we have generations of white, Asians, Latino's, heck even black people themselves! only identifying the black man and woman as being that can't be controlled, too dangerous and to unruly to befriend or live near by, thus white flight to the suburbs. But what about those blacks that arn't in prisons, or don't have criminal records, sell crack, or are baby mommas. These people must fight against these sterotypes, instead of taking the easy way out and fueling them, they have an impossible battle of uplifting their image to a society that is predisposed to racist attitudes and will claim that these people are "trying to act white." One thing black people deffinally don't do is become more aware of the reasons why these sterotypes exist, even though for the most part are untrue. Stuff black people should do is educate themselves on why these stereotypes are in place and must stay in place for the establishment. This idea is better articulated by Dr. Frances Cress Welsing, in her book, which is a contribution to understanding not only black behavior, but the white culture of supremacy called The Isis Papers.
